Referrals and Appointments

Expert care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, delivered by highly skilled consultants, specialist nurses and therapists.

Our patients seek excellence in care, the best medical, knowledge and experience, the best technology available and the kindness offered by our staff from the first call or letter, to the last appointment.

We know that visiting hospital can be an unsettling time, so whether you are coming to Papworth as an out-patient, daycase patient or in-patient our medical specialists, highly trained nurses, clinical and non-clinical support staff aim to deliver the best possible care.

All income generated by the provision of private care within Papworth Clinic goes back into the hospital's general finances and in turn helps support research and education initiatives and improvements, to the benefit of all patients.

How quickly can I be seen?

On receipt of a referral letter, an appointment will be made for you to see the consultant normally within 2 weeks.

How can I be referred to have treatment at Papworth?

The first step is to ask your referring doctor, to write a referral for you to see a consultant at Papworth Hospital; the letter should contain a full clinical history. The letter should be sent direct to the private patient officer, in Papworth Clinic.

Can I self refer?

You would need to contact your consultant of choice to confirm whether or not they will accept self referral. Some medical insurance policies may not cover you for self referral.

How do I make an appointment with a consultant?

How long is a consultation?

The consultation normally lasts between half an hour and 1 hour depending on whether or not you are a new patient.

How much does a consultation cost?
