Papworth Hospital provides care to patients with a wide range of acute and chronic chest conditions.
The Radiology Directorate
Papworth’s Radiology Service has a key role in the diagnosis of all cardiothoracic conditions. The service uses state-of-the art imaging technology and facilities include a dedicated 64-slice cardiac dual source CT scanner and a MRI scanner.
The five angiography suites allow access to:
- Diagnostic angiograms
- Coronary angioplasty
- ASD/PFO closures
- Percutaneous aortic valve replacements
- Electrophysiology studies and ablations
- Myocardial biopsies
- Line and pacemaker insertions
- DEXA Scanner
Our DEXA scanner offers the latest technology in bone density imaging and the combination of a questionnaire and scans means that we are able to provide a personalised and comprehensive report for each of our patients.
The Pathology Directorate
Papworth’s Pathology Service supports all departments of the hospital. Its services include:
- Histopathology
- Respiratory cytopathology
- Blood Sciences
- Microbiology
- A specialist immunology service; immunological profiling, T-Spot immunological testing for latent TB
